Edible New Years Cone Favors

These chocolate-covered cones make a festive addition to a New Year’s celebration. They can be used as decorations or a sweet dessert with  a scoop of ice cream.

INGREDIENTS:

Sugar cones
Ice cream
Chocolate chips (a 12-ounce bag makes 10 to 12 cones)
Icing
Small, Colorful Candies (M&M and  Skittles work well)
Fruit strips or shoestring licorice (Kellogg’s Fruit Streamers works well)
Nonpareils

DIRECTIONS:

1. Spread melted chocolate chips over the outside of each sugar cone with a small spatula.

2. The chocolate will harden in about 1 hour or 20 minutes in the refrigerator.

3. For chinstraps, attach the ends of a fruit strip or a length of shoestring licorice to the inside of each cone with your icing.

4. Decorate the hats using the icing to hold candies in place and attach nonpareils.

* Set them on your table for a centerpiece or place one at each place setting for a special dessert.

*You can use an icing pen to write each person’s name on their “hat” and use them as place cards.
