Shepherd’s Pie Recipe

Shepherd’s Pie is a good way to get your children to eat their vegetables. If you find it hard to get them to eat filling food, then try this delicious and easy Shepherd’s Pie recipe. My children love it!

Things You’ll Need:
1 lb hamburger
5 large Idaho potatoes (or 6 servings of instant mashed potatoes)
Favorite Vegetables (1 small bag of frozen or 1 can of each vegetable)
Onions (optional)
Gravy (optional)

Step 1
Spray your baking dish with Pam non-stick spray and preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
Step 2
Brown one pound of hamburger (or ground turkey) in a skillet. Drain and put the cooked burger in the bottom of your casserole dish. If you like, add chopped onions as the burger is browning to add flavor.
Step 3
Cook the frozen vegetables first according to the directions on the package. Add the Green Giant canned vegetables just before the frozen vegetables are ready. When done, put a layer of vegetables over the hamburger in your baking dish. Be sure to cover the burger completely with your vegetables.
Step 4
Peel and cook the Idaho potatoes. Make into Mashed potatoes as you normally would (or make instant using the directions on the box).
Step 5
Spoon the mashed potatoes over the vegetables spreading them until they cover the vegetables.
Step 6
Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes or until potato peaks turn slightly brown. Serve with or without gravy.

Tips & Warnings
1. You can change the vegetables to suit your family’s taste. Each tme you make Shepherd’s Pie it can be different.
2. Prepare a brown gravy (store bought jar of brown gravy works well) to serve over the Shepherd’s Pie.
